Foster parent will receive funds after being declined

Landmark judgement affirms that foster children have the same rights as other children in a family

In a landmark judgement the Pretoria High Court has for the first time determined that a foster child has the same rights as other children in a family unity when it came to claiming from the Road Accident Fund (RAF).

Roos Fortuin, the foster mother of an underage child who may not be named instituted a claim for loss of support after her husband Hendrik Albertus Fortuin was killed in a car accident on March 14 2003.


Go back to work Sapo, says the Committee

The Portfolio Committee on Telecommunications and Postal Services calls on the South African Post Office (Sapo) workers to return to work immediately, following a voluntary resignation by all board members on 7 November 2014.

The resignations came in the wake of the meeting between the Committee, Sapo board members and executive management as well as the Minister of the Department of Telecommunication and Postal Services, Mr Siyabonga Cwele, on 31 October 2014 to understand the current state of affairs at the entity.

North West Local Government suspended.

The suspended Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipal Manager Mokgele Mojaki is to appear before a disciplinary committee on 20 November 2014 where he will face eight separate charges of misconduct.

Mojaki was suspended over two weeks ago by the Administrator who has been appointed by the Provincial Government to oversee the affairs of the Municipality. The suspension followed his refusal or failure to provide reasons why he should not be placed on precautionary suspension as stipulated in the letter of intention to have him suspended.

To most children in rural areas, Christmas is just like a normal day to them. Well Santa Shoe Box Project is making sure that every child's Christmas is special.
